Eight days with a twist: this tour adds Umling La — at 5,798 metres, officially the world's highest motorable road. Built by the Border Roads Organisation and opened in 2021, Umling La is above most commercial aircraft cruising altitudes. The air here has 50% less oxygen than at sea level. The sky is so dark blue it's almost purple. The landscape is not of this Earth — it looks like Mars with better views. The rest of the itinerary covers classic Ladakh: Leh's old town, Nubra Valley, Pangong, and the mountain passes that make this one of the great road trips on the planet.
